The third day of the 10th edition of the European Transplant and Dialysis Sports Championship now taking place in the city of Cagliari will start with a 20 km in line cycling competition in Via Fiume, Quartu S. Elena.
48 cyclists are involved. They have all had transplants and 4 are women.
18 medals will be awarded for this competition (6 gold, 6 silver and 6 bronze).
Also in Quartu Sant’Elena, on the beach opposite ex pizzeria “Il Gabbiano”, there will be a fascinating Petanque tournament. Petanque is better known as “lawn bocce” , which is quite different from “beach bocce” .This is one of the most popular competitions with 63 competitors, of which 17 are women .
There will be 9 dialysed competitors, 5 being women and 4 men.
The tournament includes singles, doubles and mixed doubles competitions and will start in the morning and will finish in the afternoon.
There are 70 medals to be won (20 gold, 20 silver and 37 bronze).
Tennis and Table Tennis
The doubles and the mixed doubles tennis tournament will finish tomorrow at the “Su Planu” Tennis Club while the Table Tennis will continue at “Pala Marcozzi” in Via Crespellani , until the following day with the doubles and mixed doubles competitions.
There are 51 athletes involved in the Table Tennis tournament and 75 medals to be won.
